talkv or Gupshup?

In short

Scale and reach. Gupshup covers WhatsApp alongside SMS, RCS and voice in most of the world’s countries, and publishes a self-serve price list for every country, which is more than most providers do.

We are the other shape. Meta bills you directly for the messages, we charge a prepaid fee per message for the software, and there is no subscription. Below is what that changes — and where each of us is the wrong answer.

Side by side

The four questions that actually decide this.

Not a feature grid. Features change every quarter and every product on this page will have shipped three things by the time you read it. These four are structural — they follow from how each company is set up with Meta, and they do not move.

Who bills you for messages
talkv Meta, directly to your card Gupshup Gupshup, in dollars, Meta’s fee plus its own
Message price vs software plan
talkv No plans. Meta’s rate is Meta’s rate Gupshup Self-serve is flat; enterprise is negotiated
Monthly platform fee
talkv None Gupshup None on self-serve
Charged per team member
talkv None — add your whole team Gupshup Not on the self-serve price list

Gupshup figures read from their own pricing page on 17 October 2026. Pricing changes; if what you see there disagrees with what you see here, they are right and we are out of date — tell us and we will fix it.

The difference that matters

Who is billing you for the messages.

The full explanation

Self-serve is priced per message, in US dollars, with no monthly fee. Gupshup adds $0.001 to every message — including the ones customers send you — and a further markup on Meta’s fee for marketing messages; Meta’s own fee is passed on at actuals. Enterprise pricing is negotiated separately.

We are a Meta Tech Provider. You attach your own payment method to your own WhatsApp Business Account, and Meta invoices you for the messages directly. We never hold that money and never see that invoice — which also means we could not add anything to it if we wanted to. Our fee is for the software, and it is the only number we set.

Neither arrangement is dishonest. A provider that resells messages is carrying credit, handling billing and giving you a single invoice, and some finance teams strongly prefer that. The trade is that you can no longer separate the cost of the message from the cost of the software — and when Meta raises a rate, as it may on the first of any quarter, you have no document to hold the increase against.

Honestly

When Gupshup is the better answer.

A development team building its own product on the WhatsApp API, in many countries and on several channels, which wants a large, established vendor and is comfortable paying in dollars.

And where we lose outright.

  • We are younger and smaller than every provider compared here, and that shows in how much product you get.
  • No visual chatbot builder. There are keyword rules, greetings and away messages, and that is the whole of it.
  • No app-store catalogue of integrations — there is a developer API, but you build the connection.
  • No SOC 2, because we have not been audited. If you need one to buy, we are not the right answer yet.

And when we are

When we are the better answer.

A business that wants a ready inbox and broadcasts rather than an API to build them on, priced in rupees, without a fee on the messages its customers send to it.

Questions

Asked while choosing.

Is talkv a good Gupshup alternative?

It depends on what you want from it. Where Gupshup is strong: Scale and reach. Gupshup covers WhatsApp alongside SMS, RCS and voice in most of the world’s countries, and publishes a self-serve price list for every country, which is more than most providers do. talkv is a Meta Tech Provider, which means Meta bills you directly for WhatsApp messages on your own payment method and talkv charges a separate prepaid fee per message for the software, with no subscription and no per-seat charge. talkv is the smaller and younger product of the two.

What is the difference between talkv and Gupshup?

The structural difference is who bills you for the WhatsApp messages themselves. With talkv, Meta does, directly, so the message cost is visible on your own Meta invoice.

Is talkv cheaper than Gupshup?

Not necessarily, and it depends entirely on how you send. talkv has no monthly fee, so a business that broadcasts occasionally pays nothing in the months it does not send. A business sending heavily every month should compare the per-message software fee against the other provider's subscription plus its message rate, and should check whether that message rate is Meta's or the provider's own.
