Link generator
How it works
One address, two parts.
A WhatsApp link is WhatsApp’s own click-to-chat address. It is
https://wa.me/ followed by the number, written as the country code
and the number with nothing else — no +, no leading 0,
no spaces:
https://wa.me/91XXXXXXXXXX
To have a message ready in the chat box, add ?text= and the message,
with spaces and punctuation encoded for a web address — which is the part people
get wrong by hand, and the part this tool does for you:
https://wa.me/91XXXXXXXXXX?text=Hi%2C%20I%20saw%20your%20Diwali%20offer
Leave the number out and keep the message, and the link opens a share screen instead, where the person chooses who to send your text to.
Where to put it
Anywhere people already look for you.
- Instagram and Facebook. In your bio, so followers can message you in one tap.
- Your website. Behind a “Chat on WhatsApp” button, on the contact page or on every page.
- Google Business Profile. As your website or booking link, for people who find you on Maps.
- Email and invoices. In your signature, or on an invoice for questions about the bill.
- Ads and posts. With a message naming the offer they saw, so you know which one worked.
- Print. As a QR code on a counter, a menu, a visiting card or packaging.
Printing it? The WhatsApp QR code generator is the same tool, with the code first and advice for print.
What a link cannot do: it does not send anything — the message is a suggestion the person can change — and it does not tell you who tapped it. You find out when they write.
Questions
Asked about WhatsApp links.
Something else? Write to us — a person answers.
What is a WhatsApp link?
A web address in the form wa.me/ followed by a phone number. Tapping it opens a WhatsApp chat with that number on a phone, or WhatsApp Web on a computer, without the person having to save the number first. It is WhatsApp’s own click-to-chat feature.
Do I need the WhatsApp Business app or the API for this?
No. A wa.me link works for any number that has WhatsApp — personal, the WhatsApp Business app, or the WhatsApp Business Platform.
Why does my link say the number is not on WhatsApp?
Almost always the format. The number must be the full international number as digits only: the country code first (91 for India), then the number without its leading 0, and no +, spaces or dashes. This tool does that for you. If it still fails, that number is not registered on WhatsApp.
Does the message send automatically?
No. The message is typed into the chat box for the person, and they can change it or delete it. Nothing is sent until they tap send themselves.
Does a WhatsApp link expire?
No. The link is just the number and the message, so it works for as long as the number is on WhatsApp. Changing the message means making a new link.
Is it really free?
Yes. We charge nothing for this tool and WhatsApp charges nothing for the link. You do not need a talkv account.
When the chats arrive
A link brings the chats. talkv answers them.
A shared inbox so your whole team can reply, an away message for when you are closed, and keyword answers for “price” and “timings”. When somebody agrees to hear from you, record it — a person writing to you is not, on its own, a yes to broadcasts. What counts as opt-in.
